Working Principle
• Open Phase: Forward flow pushes the spring-loaded disc upward/away from the seat, overcoming spring tension to allow flow.
• Closed Phase: When forward flow decreases or reverses, the spring forces the disc back onto the seat, preventing backflow.
• Advantage of Spring Loading: Faster closure than gravity-driven valves, reducing impact during shut-off (minimizing water hammer) and improving sealing at low pressures.
Features & Benefits
1. Compact Design: Wafer style fits between standard flanges, saving space in tight installations.
2. Reliable Shut-Off: Spring ensures positive closure even in low-flow or low-pressure systems (e.g., vertical pipelines).
3. Low Pressure Drop: Streamlined disc design reduces resistance to forward flow.
4. Versatile Installation: Suitable for horizontal, vertical (upward flow), or inclined pipelines.
5. Easy Maintenance: Can be serviced in-line (depending on design) by removing the valve from the flanges.
Applications
• Industries: Water treatment, pharmaceuticals, food & bevrage, chemical processing, HVAC, and oil & gas.
• Media: Clean liquids, gases, steam, and non-abrasive fluids.
• Typical Uses: Prevent backflow in pumps, compressors, or systems where rapid closure is critical (e.g., fire protection lines).
