It features a spherical disc with a bore through its center, which rotates around an axis perpendicular to the flow direction. The "wafer" design allows it to be installed between two flanges, with the valve body sandwiched tightly in place by the bolts of the flanges. This type of valve provides reliable shut - off and excellent flow control capabilities. When the ball's bore aligns with the pipeline, the fluid can flow through with minimal resistance; when rotated 90 degrees, the ball blocks the flow completely, achieving a tight seal. The flanged connection ensures a secure and leak - proof interface, making it suitable for high - pressure and high - temperature applications.
